This unit covered modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice. These 3 parts of grammar are important in mastering English. Modals, that go before other verbs are helpful in adding or changing the meaning of said verbs. They can change formality, or express ability, suggestion, permission or obligation. Passive voice is a restructuring of a sentence to make the object of an verb become the subject of the passive verb. In a passive sentence the agent either doesn't appear or isn't the most important piece of information. Relative clauses are groups of words containing a subject and verb, that are introduced with relative pronouns. In a defining relative clause, the information given is essential to the meaning of the sentence. However, if the information is given in a non-defining relating clause, the clause isn't essential to the meaning of the sentence and commas can be used to structure the sentence.
