This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was interesting and a great wrap up to finish the TESOL class. We learned how to build rapport, and respect in the classroom on the very first day! We learned to not rely on and use the book as s crutch but instead to be a creative problem solver and have engaging games and activities that will entice the student's to participate. We also learned about techniques to deploy when having a mixed class with some students that are stronger and some that are weaker. We learned that pairing up the weaker students with the stronger students is recommended as well as having the weaker students work together and have simpler tasks to complete while the more advanced students work together and have more advanced tasks that build off and expand upon the simpler tasks. We also learned about what to do when facing a large rowdy class and how to coax reluctant students out of their shells.
