This unit has helped me analyze and give a name to what I do when I prepare materials for my classes. I omit, replace, supplement or simply adapt the information which is presented in the course books I adopt.
I use authentic and created material but I mainly use created material for young learners' lessons.This unit introduced me to the basic concepts and methods of teaching English as a foreign language. It outlines a series of effective methods to use in class, and warns of common mistakes made when teaching. i learnt that motivation among students is key. the ESA framework provides an insight into maintaining a high level of interest and motivation, which is a core value of effective language teaching. If the class is not engaged and motivated, they are unlikely to gain much from the lesson.
