In Unit 8, we learn how to teach the productive skills, speaking and writing. There are 3 types of speaking activities that a teacher can conduct in the classroom. Controlled activities are accuracy based. Guided activities are also accuracy based, but allow for a little more creativity from the students. Finally, creative communication activities are fluency exercises in which the teacher creates a scenario, but the content and outcome are created by the students. When teaching writing, the most important things to focus on are handwriting, spelling, and punctuation. Handwriting is more important for people who's native languages use a different alphabet. Spelling is very important because many words sound the same but are spelled different, or are spelled the same but sound different. Punctuation is also important or for correct understanding of the language.
