Through this unit, I have learnt that being a good teacher requires much more than just subject knowledge. A good teacher must have reflective self-awareness, and constantly re-evaluate his or her own teaching methods. A good teacher must be mindful and considerate of his or her students, and adequately guide, manage, mentor, assess, facilitate, prompt and monitor them. Most importantly, a good teacher must care deeply about teaching. On the other hand, there are many kinds of learners in this world. People learn English, for example, for a variety of reasons. Some learn for practical reasons, and others learn in pursuit of their personal interests. Regardless of why, or how they learn, it is important for teachers to understand their students in order to establish a relationship with them and promote a classroom atmosphere conducive to their education.
