This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit is focused on teaching theories, methods and techniques. Starting with an overview of the most important teaching techniques, the unit then focuses on the Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) methodology, which is defined more in detail. The concept of “elicitation†is explained and different elicitation techniques are described. Each component of an ESA lesson is detailed and also different ESA lesson patterns, such as the straight arrow or the boomerang pattern, are described. The section in which ideas for each phase of the lesson are given is particularly useful, especially as a reference for future lesson planning. At last, the section about corrections of errors and mistake is very formative, as it clarifies when, what and how a teacher should correct mistakes and errors, both during oral activities and in written works.
