Teachers and students alike eventually understand that learning a language is a matter seeing how it is all connected. True fluent ability takes into account all aspects of the language. This unit rightly highlights two areas often neglected: reading and writing. In my experience the ESL classroom is very different from a public school English classroom in this regard. The ESL classroom has long been seen as a place to simply speak the language often omitting reading and writing which reinforce total ability to speak. I value the explanation that if the teacher is not enthusiastic and emphasizing all aspects of acquisition then the students will be the same. Additionally, the use of games is not only fun but in the course of the activity joy is realized and language is acquired; that will keep the students coming back for more learning.
