This unit is about common problem situations that any teacher might find him/herself in.It talks about how to handle the first lessons for both new groups(in these groups students don't know each other and teacher should try to make some rapport between students as well as between students and teacher.) and existing groups (which is an existing group that students are already likely to know each other.)I learned some warmer activities and some activities to build rapport.I also learned how to handle big classes, classes with students in different levels and reluctant students. In this unit, I saw two examples of classroom instruction. In the first example, the teacher was intimidating and generally seemed like he did not want to be there. In the second example, the teacher was much more friendly and engaging. The teacher also showed much better preparation and creativity in the second lesson as opposed to the first lesson. As I have seen several times during this course, I again realized the importance of a positive, friendly, and engaging teacher in the classroom. These lessons are not like college lectures, but are much more creative and engaging.
