I forget that teachers often use placement tests on students to further understand what they already know versus what areas they need to cover. The diagnostic test is a concept that I am unfamiliar with as a past student, but it is a great tool to set up for future lesson plans. I will try to look more so on the placement test questions and the external exams so that I can better understand what these English learning students will need prepare for when they take the course.In this lesson I learned the difference between effective and ineffective teaching. In the first lesson, Mark did not present the information in an engaging and clear way. This resulted in a lack of participation from students. Students also appeared intimidated and confused. In the second lesson, Mark is excited and engaging. Students respond really well to Mark's method of teaching and they seem to understand the material because he breaks it down in an understandable way.
