What I have learned from this Unit is that it is important to have an understanding of how we absorb information through reading and listening. These two skills are how we learn a new language, so understanding more deeply the complexities of the skills can allow for deeper understandings. One particularly useful part of this unit was the idea of Pre-teaching vocabulary. If we were to simply give students a reading or have them listen to an audio recording, then it is likely that there would be many words that they do not know resulting in misunderstandings and frustrations. If we are to teach them some of the more important confusing words beforehand, then it not only lets them know that we recognize the difficulty of the language being used, but it also gives them a chance to learn new language and better understand the content.
