This unit covers a number of situations that may arise when teaching. Situations such as reluctant students, skills gaps, problems with listening activities, and use of the students native language. The unit also covers first classes, warm ups, and large classes. Each situation has unique considerations and solutions. The unit encourages the teacher to focus the first class on rapport and understanding the students and their level. Take the time early on to get an understanding of the students so that you can use that information to help teach later on. As for trouble with listening activities, here there was very useful bit of advice. Prepare activities for the more advanced students so that they do not get bored. Listening, more than many other activities, creates a skill gap between students. So one should be prepared for this.
