This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered a lot of important information on pronunciation and phonetics. I learned a lot as there was not much information in this unit that I already knew or remembered. The phonetic symbols were very interesting to me as I had never learned this. There is a difference between voiced and unvoiced consonants as they have different sounds when they are pronounced, even though they may be using the same letter or letters. Using the mouth to explain how to pronounce things was also an interesting concept. Paying attention to tongue and lip placements play a big role in the ways that certain words and phrases are pronounced and emphasized. Stressing certain parts of a word or phrase was also an important section of this unit. Stress in a word or phrase can alter or emphasize the entire message that is being given.
