This unit was interesting in that it delineates some of the key issues that students posses when speaking and/or writing. Relating this topic when teaching was also an interesting point. How to elicit information and engage the students with the key points from this unit will be of great use as well. Furthermore, getting the balance between 'over correcting', fluency and controlled teacher was also something which was explained in good detail.In this unit I looked at teaching productive skills. For learning languages, speaking and writing are the two productive skills. The techniques used to encourage these skills vary from role plays, to drilling and storytelling. I feel this is one of the most interesting ways of encouraging students to speak because they have the freedom to use their own imagination. The kids of stories produced this way are not limited by language barriers.
