Tenses are used to indicate time in the practice of English. Although most linguists have a strong standing on there are only two tenses exist, most of the EFL teachers will introduce three types of time classification in class which are the present, the past and the future. Each of these three tenses has four aspects to indicates different usages such as the simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous. Tenses are one of the area which confuses students the most while learning English. Due to the great variety of rules and changes that needs to be applied when using English language. For example, it is easy for non native learners to miss out the s or es at the end of the verb while using present simple tense. Moreover, incorrect application might also occur if students do not understand the usages of the tenses completely. As tenses are one of the most important grammatical aspect in studying English, teachers should make sure that they provide students with clear explanation and sufficient time in order to fully understand each tenses before moving on to the next, otherwise it might lead to confusion and students might also loose their interest in learning English.
