This unit covered the various teaching methodologies that have been used to attempt to replicate the natural language acquisition. Founded on different theories, there are some that hold much more merit than others. I believe that those methods such as ESA which promote maximum student production and limit the time the teacher is speaking to be the best in developing fluency and vocabulary. However I still believe that hearing the teacher speak is a valuable resource when internalizing the sounds and structure of the target language, although it should nevertheless be limited. I believe the best teachers take the positive aspects from the various styles and apply them in a way that best fits the classroom dynamic.
