Some of the essential components of learning a new language are learning it's vocabulary, it's grammar and all of its other functions. The other functions include inviting, refusing, agreeing, disagreeing, suggesting things, and so on. I my opinion these other funtions can loosely be called actual conversation of the target language. The more a student converses in the language the quicker he/she will 'learn' the language. Although not addressed in this unit hearing or listening to the target language is essential. When I lived in Spain and France and studied the language in addition to all the above I watched all TV and listened to all news radio programming possible. I would go to sleep every night listening to the radio. After so many months of constant listening, I was able to \"train\" my ear.
