This unit has been extremely helpful in understanding how to create a lesson plan and utilise it in a way that is structured yet flexible to students' timing and needs. As a Teaching Assistant in the past, I used to sometimes create lesson plans but would always structure them too much and that would lead to my becoming a bit flustered in class if we couldn't get through all the material. In reaction to that, I would not write a plan for the following lesson or would plan very minimally, which often meant that I did not feel fully prepared. This lesson offered some very helpful guidelines for striking a balance between the two, particularly in how to use ESA to create a natural flow throughout a class period, and I am confident I will use many of these tips as an English teacher in the future.
