this unit is about evaluating and testing ESL students. Some examples of tests used are placement tests:used to identify the students language ability before starting the course, progress tests:used throughout the course to identify which information has been absorbed by the student and which has been forgotton, diagnostic tests: a more extensive placement test, and practice tests: used to prepare students for external exams and follow the same format as the exam they are preparing for. I have learned that there are multiple general external examinations for esl learners according to their purpose of learning english and that in the UK cambridge assesment produces exams which are the worlds leading range of certificates for English learners.
