Receptive(reading and listening) and productive(peaking and writing) skills are equally important. Typically, a lesson will focus on one skill but all four types of language skills should be incorporated. Listening can be more challenging than reading because you can refer back to the text when reading, take your time, and look things up. With listening, you hear it once and continue on. This emphasizes the importance of speaking slowly and clearly as a teacher. Comprehension lessons should address problems that arise with reading and listening such as difficulty of language, interest in topics and achievability of tasks.
