This unit was basically about factors that should be taken into account when teaching various English classes such as mixed ability groups, individuals, adult learners, children, multilingual and monolingual groups. It was most useful at examining strategies for teaching each category according to its needs.Teaching approaches varied form structured teaching to a curriculum building method where the learner plays a key role in determining what he/she wants to learn.
What i found most fascinating was the fact that adults also appreciate classroom layout an color. The fact that the teacher should start English lessons by being firm to establish seriousness and lessen the grip as time goes on is critical in the achievement of goals. The fact that the physical position of the teacher has a bearing on performance of the class was also of interest to me. The first video on Chapter 10 actually showed this - the teacher gave most attention to the lady closest to him.
