In this unit, I learned about how to teach phonology to ESL students. I learned that teaching phonology was just as important as teaching grammar. I learned that students have to be taught how to change their intonation based on meaning, and how to stress the correct syllables in an English word. I learned some techniques to teach this to the students, e.g tapping to indicate tone/stress. I learned about the different places and manner of articulation, and how to teach this to the students to improve pronunciation. I learned about IPA symbols, and how they can be used to transcribe any word.At last we finish the verb tense units. In this final one there are an additional three tenses on top of the usual four. ?Be going? tense and present simple and present continuous used to talk about the future. At this point in the units the verb patterns are getting easier to pick up on. Despite having three extra tense forms this one was the fastest and easiest to understand of all the verb tenses. Most importantly I think is to continue studying the uses of each tense form. This is much more slippery and confusing than the ?forms? and could be important for explaining to students.
