This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit discussed receptive skills (reading and listening) in a language. In order to have a well-rounded, comprehensive understanding of a language, it is important for the learner to engage in all four types of skills i.e. reading, listening, speaking and writing. This chapter explained ways in which teachers can teach and train receptive skills to students. While doing so, it is important to consider whether the teaching material will motivate the student, whether it will build the student's interest before reading or listening to the material, whether the teaching material is varied and interesting, whether the material will help train the student's reading, listening, speaking and writing skills and so on.
