Classroom management requires certain teacher attributes which will contribute to students gaining the maximum benefit from their classroom experience. To learn effectively, students need a teacher who can inspire confidence, who has the respect of the class as a whole, and who can maintain an adequate degree of discipline for effective learning to occur. The Unit covered issues, such as teacher attributes, such as being able to provide the correct level of eye contact, tone and volume of voice, and gesture appropriate to the situation and type of student/s. The discussion included classroom grouping, or the physical layout of the classroom and the various pros and cons of each of the three basic layouts. Other ideas canvassed included boardwork, giving appropriate Teacher Talk Time as opposed to Student Talk Time, rapport and maintaining discipline.
