A lesson plan functions as a record of classes done, an aid for planning lessons and also acts as a working document. Basic principles to keep in mind when writing a lesson plan includes: keeping it simple, unscripted, flexible while simultaneously maintaining the written structure also making note of anticipated time each activity will take. A lesson plan varies from teacher to teacher but should include items such as: learner objectives, personal aims, language point (topic), teaching aids needed, anticipated problems, procedure, phase (engage, study, activate), timing, interactions, date/time, # of students, class level and teacher/observer names. After each lesson, it is important to do a teacher self evaluation to measure perceived effectiveness.
