This chapter was about grammar and its functions, as well as vocabulary and how to choose what vocabulary to use for lessons. I learned that vocabulary is not useful to a learner of any language if they do not know how to formulate a sentence. The language learner will not be able to remember the vocabulary learned if they are not often exposed to it, and if it has no relevance to lessons in the past, and/or their everyday lives. When vocabulary is irrelevant it is easily forgotten and may become part of their receptive vocabulary, as opposed to being a part of their productive vocabulary. In this unit, i have learned the present tense. i have learned that sentence has twelve tenses. which normally is the present, the past and the future. and each tense has present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. in present simple; it is subject + base form +s/es (ex. I go, she goes, we go) present continuous : subject + aux. verb 'be' + verb + ing (ex. I am driving) present perfect : has/have + past participle (ex. I have written) present perfect continuous : subject + aux. verb 'have' + been + verb + ing) (ex. I have been driving).
