This unit was an excellent example of what not to do in a lesson. I actually felt so strongly taken aback by the first video that I felt frustrated and angry. Although it was a slight exaggeration by use of numerous upon numerous errors in methodology, the video very clearly shed light on how subtle nuances in teaching style have profound effects on how students receive instructions and lessons. The second video was a joy to watch, I actually felt happy as soon as the instructor spoke with a smile and greeted the class. It was clear immediately how much more comfortable, attentive, happy, and ready to learn the students were. The second video had many characteristics of a great teacher; enthusiasm, personality, clear instruction, positive reinforcement, positivity when correcting mistakes, and attentiveness to his students were excellent examples of a strong and positive teacher.
