This Unit provides a basic overview of common teaching methods used in EFL. A method posited by Jeremy Harmer - called Engage/Study?Activate (EAS) - is the method which gives teachers much flexibility in approach to lesson planning and conduct. It is a method well-suited to trainee and new teachers. This method is used throughout the course. Much useful information, regarding the various types of ESA lessons, is provided with copious suggestions for classroom activities involving the different stages. The role of the teacher and student in correction is covered, and advice provided on matters such as the sole use of English in lessons, ensuring students have the opportunity for language practice in an \"non-threatening\" setting, and providing the environment where students can practice and be \"creative\" with English.
