In this unit, I learned the many acronyms for the different external examinations. It is important to note that there are various tests that can be given throughout the course. Placement tests are useful because they can set the student at a particular level. Diagnostics tests, which, like placement tests, are also administered before the start of the course, allow the teacher to know which areas s/he should focus on while teaching a particular group of students. Progress tests should be given throughout the course to check what the students have retained. Finally, practice tests allow the students to see where they are at and how much more they need to study and achieve in order to pass the external examination.
