How long are TEFL contracts?

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

This unit teaches the productive skills of speaking and writing. I enjoyed learning about the different ways of encouraging the students to speak and write and also what guidelines to place for free speaking activities. The list of games in the classroom also provided good ideas for future lessons. There are clearly quite a few different possible equipment and teaching aides that can be used in a classroom for English students. Using a variety of these materials and devices can be an effective way to engage the class and ensure the work is varied and entertaining. But is this really a lesson? The planning of the lesson is definitely very useful, but it ought to be flexible to prevent the learning process from being too teacher centred and consequently too rigid. If the lesson is planned in excessive detail, the teacher will not be flexible enough to respond to the needs of the students.
