Why take a TEFL course?

There are many reasons to take a TEFL course, not least because it is the best way to enable you to work almost anywhere in the world as an English teacher. While there are still some countries and employers that do not require teachers to have a formal TEFL/TESOL qualification these places are gradually becoming few and far between and the days where simply being a native speaker of English were enough to guarantee a teaching job are mostly long gone. Increasingly, those hoping to teach English as a foreign language are required to have a certificate of at least 100 hours if not 120 hours. Are you ready to live and teach abroad? Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

In this unit, the topic of classroom management was discussed. This included topics such as how to maintain eye contact and use appropriate gestures and voice tone to maximize effectiveness. It also discussed how to group students and arrange your classroom and finally how to maintain discipline.Past tense systems and structures follow closely to those of present tense. It is still necessary to look at each of the four tenses and to understand the cases in which they are used, the errors that are associated with them, and how they might be effectively taught to English language students.Listening and Reading are perhaps less intimidating for students as this does not require them to make any production yet. The example of a lesson focusing on comprehension skills is very useful as I can see how to break down the teaching of comprehension skills into ESA components for the class.
