TESOL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Cilene
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
Level testing and needs analysis are a big part in any start of course. Getting accustomed to the predefined framework does come in handy. Concerning the syllabus design, students and their cultural background, resources, time restraints and even your own employer become important factors. It becomes convenient to insert different kinds of tests at the start or even during the course, so as to guarantee a maximum understanding, both from the teacher and from the students, of the main necessary qualities of a course. First of all in this unit I've learnt about the scale of a language level of learners. The main criteria that define a student which level he/she belongs to include ability to discuss different topics, fluency, vocabulary etc.. Also I found out about the types of tests that are needed to be conducted. Probably the most important part of the unit for me is syllabus construction. I discovered some specifications about its implementing and also limiting factors that might come up. I like the sheet that's used for an example of syllabus, it simplifies the general view of the course.
