Classroom ManagementTeachers constantly complain of disorderly classes. Disrespecting students, disruptive students, off topic, and the list goes on. But really it’s the teachers responsibility to ensure that the class not be so chaotic. Effective classroom management begin with careful curriculum planning. It is critical that teachers make several sections of the class different, consistency, structure, good use of visual aids, and proper discipline. During long repetitious lessons students tend to get sidetracked, bored, and anxious. Why? Our brain doesn't like to concentrate on any one thing for more that 20 minutes at a time, research shows. When there is a change to the environment it is exciting, new, and refreshing. Teachers can make an effort to change the class seating every semester, week, or month. This allows students to easy become friends with everyone and it allows students to see things from a different angle which can be pleasing to the eye. Also create different class sections, for instance, side A can be blue and they will be working on drawing exercise, whereas side B (Green) will be listening to a Lesson tape. In every classroom there must be a structure. Have an outline on the board or a class syllabus. When students know what to expect, they can mentally be helped to remember. It prepares them for the class; constant reminders make students alert, and responsible. Teachers should be cautious to always respect the arrangement. By starting classes on time, have the lesson, and your mind prepared for the class. Students always respect teachers who have a plan, and stick to it. When there is consistency the students feel stable, and they can be prepared themselves. BOOM! Make good use of visual aids, games, and play acting and other non-sedentary learning opportunities. Noises and eye popping images holds the students’ attention and keeps them involved. This constant stimulation helps students stay involved and therefore helps to avoid classroom management problems. Teachers need to make an effort to be creative, have lessons with music that they might be interested in. Perhaps even a movie day, and just watch an english movie to help them become more familiar with the language. To conclude, don't indulge trouble makers, but instead swiftly make sure they are excused if they do not want to behave according to the rules. Allowing disruptive students to remain in the classroom robs other students of a wholesome class. Students are sincerely interested in learning english will be wasting their time listening to the teacher waste their time trying to calm disruptive students. Teachers cannot be lenient with disruptive students. If there is a need for discipline, do so immediately. Waiting only wastes precious time. Class management is critical to an effective class. If teachers consider these pointers they will have a successful class. Teachers who have a good structured lesson plan, and consistency, exciting visual aid, and strict yet kind discipline will immensely improve classes learning skills and class atmosphere. Teachers should constantly strive to be attentive in their teaching skills but also whatever the class is lacking in. There is always something to work on starting with proper class management will only help the on-going progress as a wise teacher.
