The course was a challenge to me, as while working in the media I had the opportunity to teach students in Media but as a guest lecturer. After the session got over I realized that teaching is something I enjoy more than doing a job of a news producer in a media news channel. Surfing the internet I found a very interesting course offered by ITTT, where not only I could teach english as a foreign language to students but also visit several countries exchanging cultural and moral values. english had always been my favorite language of communication and ITTT would add a feather to my cap by giving me a certificate to teach the language to any non-english speaking person worldwide. By nearly finishing this course, I can realize that teaching is as “technical” and “client oriented” as any software which is developed in an IT company. Catering to the needs and requirements of the student, teaching excels in solution development within a scheduled target date. Teaching includes personal interactions - building personal relationships, creative thinking, multitasking – keeping the brain at work and most important – the scope for future building. The ten units which I came across, covered all of these, mentioned above. Today I feel confident, contented and ready to offer something to people who wish to learn english. Units like “english grammar and parts of speech”, “Tenses”, “Active voice, passive voice” refreshed my mind in english grammar and technical topics like “Theories, methods and techniques” , “Course books, class room materials” etc. made me learn a lot of basic concepts about teaching. The ITTT course materials and worksheets were very helpful. Right now, I feel comfortable in teaching english as a foreign language, thanks to ITTT. I wish to put the feature “Lesson Plan” very seriously while teaching to any class, as I found it is the basic foundation of planning any teaching methodology to any group of students. Teaching pronunciation and phonology is very important in understanding receptive and productive skills. Course books and classrooms are also important, as teaching aids may vary according to the socio-economic background of the country. Teaching special groups of students can be a challenging task as students include people of different age, from different social backgrounds, from different needs. I would like to encounter all the good and bad experience with any non english speaking student and try to make it comfortable with him or her exchanging words of comfort in english with him or her. I finally would like to thank my online teacher, who helped me gaining this confidence.
