Teaching receptive skills is about finding a balance between teaching reading and listening skills, one of the main goals as a teacher is to find motivation for the learner to improve upon both skills this can be done through careful planning and/or pre-teaching to get student through more difficult language as not to derail them, as well as finding subjects that the students may find interesting. Its important that if you have a large group of student that you use a wide range of topics and subjects as not to focus on things a select few may only appreciate, also make sure you deliver the content with the right amount of enthusiasm to keep the learner engaged.
