Unit 8 presents sensible ways of teaching productive language skills, namely speaking and writing. Both these functions are equally important but the former is more concerned with fluency, the latter with accuracy. The unit discusses how best to teach them, common difficulties that students may encounter with each of them and how best to overcome such obstacles.Two ESA examples are also included, one for speaking and the other for creative writing. I feel I have learnt how to get the right balance between accuracy and fluency, where to apply each, and how to motivate students to be interested in speaking and writing in English.
