The unit covers three parts of grammar: modal verbs, which add meaning to a verb; passive voice, which emphasizes the verb rather than the subject; and relative clauses, which modify a noun. The unit covers the reasons for using modals, the rules, and how they change forms across tenses. Then it goes on to contrast active and passive voice, describe the reasons for using passive voice, lists the forms according to tense and describes common student errors. Finally, there are classroom activity suggestions. Thirdly the unit explains relative clauses, gives usages and examples, differentiates between defining and non-defining clauses. Lastly it covers three types of phrasal verbs and their governing rules and suggests teachers work them into many lessons so students pick them up naturally.
