This unit gave an overview of the characteristics of a good teacher and some basic principles in teaching. It is apparent that the teacher may utilize multiple roles while teaching a class and will require the flexibility to move from one role to the other depending on the current needs of the students. It is clear that teaching requires always being aware of how the students are doing and reacting, sensitivity to their current needs and the ability to fulfill those needs. It also made clear that the needs of very young children, children, teens and adults will vary and that the teaching methods that are effective for those age groups will vary widely. The level of advancement of the learner will also play an important role in the the teachers lesson activities and the roles he or she plays in the classroom
