In this unit I learnt that not just students from school's are the main teaching focus, but many businesses from around the world might need to learn/improve their English to help them with careers and other skills. There are many groups you can find in many places, the multilingual classes seem to be a very interesting class to teach as it has many students from across the world that come together to learn English as a common ground.Unit 19 addressed some specific do?s and don?ts of teaching certain groups ? beginners, individuals, children, and business students. I found the ?Needs Analysis? tool to be a straightforward and consistent method of gaining an understanding of the student?s needs. It also reflects a client/customer/person centred approach to teaching rather than only using a placement test and general language/vocabulary targets in class.
