I thought that the first unit was an excellent introductory about teaching ESL learners. I particularly took away different roles that a teacher may have in a classroom; a manager/controller, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, resource or facilitator, model, and an observer/monitor. I believe that as a teacher we take on each of these roles, some maybe more than others depending on your students, lesson, or activity that you are teaching or presenting. I believe that each individual student will benefit from the teacher being a different role therefore, it is important to be able to adapt yourself to fit each individual learning style. Most importantly being able to motivate each and every student to do their best, regardless of their language level or stage of their life.
