Tense that is used for describing actions that happened or existed in the past. For every verb in english, there is only one form of t in the past tense. There is only one simple past verb which has two forms- 'was' and 'were'. It is important to understand if the action or event is in the past simple or past perfect tense and if the verb is regular or irregular. PAST SIMPLE- Used for actions completed at a definite time, statements and actions that happened one after another in the past. PAST CONTINUOUS- Used for interrupted past actions, action going on at that moment and being continued, actions happening at the same time. PAST PERFECT- Action taking place before another action. PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS- Longer actions or situations in the past going on continuously.
