I learned that how things are said is just as important to understand the meaning as the words themselves. Understanding how sounds are produced by knowing the manner and place of articulation will be helpful when teaching students how to pronounce things correctly. I also learned about the phonemic alphabet which I didn't really use before but having it explained in the unit makes me realise its importance.I found this unit very interesting and helpful to know the different types of teaching themes. It was also helpful to understand the difference and similarities between case studies and problem based activities. Lastly, I really found the different websites to be interesting in understanding what types of resources are available on the internet. This will help me find more authentic materials in the future.
