This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The unit looked at the basic parts of speech. In a very detailed unit, verbs, nouns, pronouns, gerunds and other grammatical components of language were outlined. A focus on defining the terms proved to be very helpful even for native speakers. I suggest this because native speakers often don’t learn grammatical structures in relation to their spoken English, as their proficiency is acquired through their surrounding environment from a young age.
Although the unit didn’t explain tenses and other more complicated grammatical structures, it was a good overview of the English language. I learnt how to identify the different parts of speech, and specifically broaden my knowledge of technical terms. The adverb section was particularly enlightening.
