This unit taught me about the qualities of a \"good\" learner and a \"good\" teacher. I learned about reasons why students might be motivated to study the English language, the different roles that a teacher is responsible for knowing and taking when appropriate, the differences between adult learners and young learners, and the language stages/levels that students are usually grouped into. I liked this unit because it was a great first step into this course, as it provided an introduction to the roles and relationship of the teacher and the learner. I feel better able to identify the level that my students will be in, realize why my students have chosen to enter my classroom, and be aware of our roles and relationship in the classroom.
