This unit introduces the different parts of the course and also the general terminology that is likely to come up in the course. The unit defines a young learner as one of 5 to 13 years of age. From the age of 5 to the age of 13, great changes will be taking place in the learners' minds and as a teacher we will need to address these changes, it will be further discussed in the following units. There will be different teaching prospects on completion of the course and the unit gives a general idea of how the TEFL teaching career will be in different parts of the world. The unit suggests 25 contact hours per week to be the reasonable maximum, even though when working for a school/company the contact hours could range from 18 to 35.
