In this unit we covered authentic material verses course books. Course books are a good guide but the teacher needs to add to the lesson with creative activities and materials. Authentic materials can be very interesting to students. They can aide to the course material to keep the attention of the students. Authentic materials can be geared towards a specific age group or specific interest.This unit covered the teaching of 5 special groups, from individuals, business English learners and children as well as mono and multilingual groups. The unit taught me about the different needs of each group and of the do's and don'ts of each group, and the things to bear in mind when teaching young learners and business leaners, that they are all different and require different approaches.
