In this unit, I have learned on the numerous different methods for teaching a second language, including the one considered most effective for new teachers: Engage-Study-Activate. The Engage part acts as a sort of icebreaker for the day's lesson, incorporating fun, hands-on activities. Study involves activities that stress learning vocabulary and grammar, such as word recitation and analysis of sentence structure. The Activate stage should include critical-thinking activities that holistically reinforce what was learned in the lesson, such as role-play and writing ads. When it comes to correcting errors and mistakes, the emphasis should be on having the students recognizing their own errors and constructive reinforcement.
