In Unit 11, the two important receptive skills are reviewed: reading and listening. These are key for language learners as reading and listening are fundamental parts of their learning experience. In this unit, different types of reading and listening styles are listed followed by typical purpose for doing. An example is scanning a newspaper for a particular story. Additionally, advice for how to construct a better reading and listening environment are given (having a pre-teaching vocab and carefully choosing eat text for a class). Type of text matters and it is important to keep the interests of the class in mind. Finally, an example of a receptive skills lesson is given in detail followed by pages of example exercises.
