No matter how experienced a teacher is he/she will face problems in the classroom at some point. One of the main challenges encountered is teaching mixed-ability classes. The method that the teacher uses to address this situation should ensure that the strong students do not become bored or the weak students are ignored. Another common problem is students' reluctance to participate. The teacher should encourage participation by trying to identify the reason(s) for lack of involvement, and creating an environment in which those students feel safe. Since problems in the classroom are inevitable, teachers must be prepared to respond to them in a manner that creates an equal opportunity for all students to learn.
