Course books and materials are a great tool that some teachers swear by while others may detest them.
Materials can be divided into 2 groups. Authentic materials and Created materials. The main difference being authentic materials such as newspapers, menus, films, songs, magazines, things used in everyday situations by native people. While created material is used to teach specific areas and include set materials that provide a balance of work that can be graded.
Most lessons will use and rely on created materials to teach students basic tasks. However, it's also important to try and integrate your own more relevant materials as replacements or supplements to better suit the students needs.
