I have to say, the phonetic script part of this unit boggles my mind. It seems very difficult to figure out, and almost like a completely different language. I would need much more time practicing and figuring out all of the different letters, combinations, and their sounds. I have had a couple students VERY interested in the pronunciation of specific words, and often have a hard time with Koreans, for instance, and how to teach them some of the sounds. The differences between fit and feet, beer and bear, etc, are all very tricky to explain. Some of my students have been unable to HEAR the differences, and this say of identifying where the tongue is in the mouth might be a helpful tool for me.
